how we raise our puppies

Our Curriculum

We follow the BABS Curriculum by Jeanette Forrey with 4E Kennels to raise all of our exceptional puppies. This program begins with our happy and healthy parent dogs and ensures that we honor them, their health, and their well-being first and foremost. Every puppy born into our hands is a blessing. We are responsible for teaching each puppy that the world is good and safe. We will empower them while tackling tasks that gently challenge them and build confidence. This curriculum helps us match you to your perfect puppy!

We begin ENS (early neurological stimulation) and ESI (early scent introduction) at three days old. This is performed on days 3-16, including gentle handling and daily weights. ENS is known to improve cardiovascular performance, stronger heartbeats, stronger adrenal glands, more tolerance to stress, and greater disease resistance. In addition, ESI improves nose awareness and confidence.

We move into a more advanced curriculum with our puppies at three weeks old. We begin a “10-step puppy massage” every day and increase pressure weekly. In addition, we use our 10-step handling exercises to ensure our puppies are exposed to various types of touch, handling, and sensation. We also socialize our puppies to different sounds, sights, textures, things to climb on, run through, etc. We believe in empowering over enabling our puppies. Therefore, we set them up to conquer daily physical and mental challenges. We build our puppy’s nerve strength, confidence, and problem-solving skills by doing this. We also begin potty training and crate training (it is essential to understand that your puppy will not be fully potty and crate trained. Your puppy will still have accidents in your home without constant training and positive reinforcement.  Our goal is to provide our puppies with a stable and enriching environment for the first eight weeks of their lives.

We conduct a puppy aptitude test on each puppy at seven weeks of age. During the test, we focus on 12 crucial puppy temperament traits to help make sure you get a puppy that fits you, your lifestyle, and your needs and honors who the puppy is. Once temperament testing and vet checks are completed, families will be able to watch evaluation videos and see scorecards of each puppy for them to make the right decision for their family on Go- Home day. Picks are made in order of a family place on the waitlist on the go-home day; no exceptions, please.
