bring home a puppy
Step 1: Learn About Our Program
We want you to be well informed before you choose to get one of our puppies. Puppies are a lifetime commitment. Therefore, it’s also essential for you to be well aware of the process and what to expect. Please make sure that you have read through our website to fully understand how we raise all of our puppies, the temperament testing, and the complete process from the moment you submit your application to the day you take your puppy home.
Step 2: Apply For a Puppy
To start your journey for a Ridgeview Doodle, you need to submit a puppy application via Google Form. Once you have submitted your application, we will set up a phone interview to initiate a conversation with us and tell us a bit about yourself and what you have in mind for your future puppy! Completing the Puppy Application does not guarantee that you will be approved or committed to anything yet.
Step 3: Recieve Approval
After receiving your application and conducting a phone interview, wait to hear back from us via email about your application status. We typically respond within 2-3 business days. We’ll respond with your approval or refusal. We reserve the right to deny anyone if we feel that they are not the right fit for one of our puppies.
Step 4: Submit a Reservation Fee
Once approved, your next step will be to submit a non-refundable $250 reservation fee and sign our reservation fee agreement, puppy contract, and spay/neuter contract. Our reservation fee agreement can be found on our puppy application page. We prefer to accept payments through Good Dog. If this does not work for you, we can discuss alternate options. Your reservation fee goes towards the final price of your puppy. Once you submit your reservation fee and agreement, you will be added to our master waitlist. Our waitlist is in order of reservation fee submit date. When we have a litter/s coming up, we will make our way down our waitlist and ask you if you would like a puppy from the upcoming litter. If you are happy with the parents, expected colors, size, etc., you can reserve a spot on that litter. If you are not, we will skip you and move on to the next person. You will keep your place on the waitlist, and we start at the top of our waitlist and make our way down the list every litter.
Step 5: Please Wait
We try to keep our waitlist to a reasonable number to ensure everyone will receive a puppy within a timely matter. We occasionally will reopen our waitlist when we have the room! Although we may have a general idea of the litter that will be bred throughout the year, there are several things that we just can’t predict until a litter has arrived such as litter size, gender ratio, color/markings, and coat types available. Those factors all play a part in which waitlist families will be interested in a given litter. Keep in mind that each family has an idea of what they’re looking for in their future companion, just as you do. For that reason, our waitlist is ever-changing. Each family has the flexibility to remain on the waitlist for as long as they need to find the right fit. Nobody is locked into a specific litter. Occasionally, families ahead of you in rank may pass on a current litter and choose to wait for a future litter. If enough families do this, you may have the chance to get a puppy from that current litter. If you decide to go with that current litter and don’t find what you’re looking for, you will get back on the waitlist in order of your reservation fee submit date.
Typically, families who are more flexible regarding their preferences for their future puppy’s gender, color/markings, coat type, preferred to take home timing, etc. will often find their match and bring a puppy home more quickly than someone with a longer list of criteria. But, of course, if you have specific preferences for these things, that is great, too; know that you may experience a longer wait time to find your exact match!
Important Notice:
As the Breeder, we reserve the right to first and second pick of every litter. Therefore, we may not always choose to keep these spots and will move up people on the list and fill the other spots as necessary.
Puppy Go-Home Day & Transportation:
Here are some things to expect on puppy go-home day! Arrangements should have been made to pick up your puppy in any way listed in our transportation paragraph below. If you cannot pick up your puppy on go-home day/weekend, you will need to make arrangements in advance for us to keep your puppy longer for you. This will have an additional fee of $50/day. Payments for your puppy can be made by cash or by cashier’s check
We have many ways to work with you to get your new puppy home. Some of these options include:
- Picking up the puppy from our home in Eastern Washington
- We can drive part way to meet you with your puppy / for $1 per mile (we only charge one way, not round trip) with a maximum of 175 miles (longer distances may be able to be arranged – contact us)
- You could fly to the Pasco Airport and we can meet you there with your puppy
- You can arrange for a flight nanny to fly your puppy to you.
- Please note that we will not ship our puppies in cargo. We will only allow them to fly in-cabin on the plane with a trustworthy adult.
